Q. DO YOU OFFER EVENING CLASSES?

A. Our evening classes run on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM.
These classes run for three weeks and one day.


Q. DO YOU OFFER AFTERNOON CLASSES?

A. Our TWO-WEEK accelerated afternoon classes run Monday through Friday from 2:30 PM - 5:30 PM.
These classes run for two weeks and are usually held in the Fall and a few times in the Winter.


Q. DO YOU OFFER ONE-WEEK CLASSES?

A. Our accelerated ONE-WEEK classes run Monday through Fridays from 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM.
These classes run for just one week usually during School Vacations and during the Summer. Please call 978-332-7038 for details.

Q. How old do I have to be to attend Driver's Education?
A. The minimum age required: You must be at least 15 years and 9 months by the start of the class.

Q. When can I get my Learner's Permit?
A. The minimum age to get your Learner's Permit is 16 years old.

Q. Do I need to have my Learner's Permit to attend Driver's Education Classes?
A. No. As a matter of fact, the Driver's Education Classes will prepare you to take the Learner's Permit Test.

Q. Do I need to take Driver's Education to get my Driver's License?
A. If you are under the age of 18, Massachusetts requires you to successfully complete an RMV-approved Driver's Education Program and have the Driver's Education Certificate issued before you can book and take your Driver's License test.

Q. How do I get a Driver's Education Certificate?
A. Upon Completion of all requirements at an approved Driver's Education School and payment of the required $15 fee to the RMV, the school will send an authorization to the RMV stating you have completed the program. The RMV will then issue and mail directly to the student an official Driver's Education Completion Certificate.

Q.What does the full program include?

A.DRIVER'S ED PROGRAM:

  • 30 Hours of Classroom Training
  • 12 Hours Behind the Wheel Training
  • 6 Hours Observing
  • 2 Hour Parent Class
  • Driver's Education Certificate
  • Must be 15 years 9 months old to begin Driver's Education

Q. How old do I have to be to start Driver's Education?

A.You must be 15 years 9 months to start the classroom portion of the Driver's Education program.

Q. How many hours do I need to drive with my family?

A. You will need 40 hours of driving with a parent or someone your parents appointed over the age

of 21 years of age who has had a valid Driver's License for at least one year.

Q. When can I start Road Lessons?

A. If you have your permit, road lessons can be booked after completion of the classroom portion of the program. You will need at least 10 hours of road lessons with a parent before you start driving with the auto school.

Q. How long do I need my permit before I can book my Road Test?

A. You will need your permit 6 months from the date of issue before a Road Test can be booked.

Q. How do I get my Driver's Education Certificate?

A. The Registry of Motor Vehicles will be notified by us through the US Postal Service that the student has completed all of their requirements. At this time the Registry of Motor Vehicles will process the Student's Certificate. The date that it was processed will show up online. (The Registry of Motor Vehicles no longer sends paper copies of the Certificate in the mail). To check to see if the Student's Certificate has been processed, go to http://www.massdot.state.ma.us/rmv/. If you have difficulties please email us the student's name, permit number, and date of birth and we will be happy to look it up for you. Once the Student's Certificate has been processed a Road Test may be booked. If you are going with Sharpy Driving School for your Road Test we need to book it through our school. Just let us know via email (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) that you would like to use our vehicle for the Road Test. If you are going on your own, you may book the Road Test yourself. (Registry of Motor Vehicles - 617-351-4500)

Q. Do I need to book my own Road Test?

A. If you are going on your own for your Road Test you can book your own Road Test after your Driver's Education Certificate has been processed at the Registry Of Motor Vehicles. If you would like to go with us for your road test we will book your appointment for you. You will need to call the office to let us know your Driver's Ed Certificate has been processed or we can check for you if you would like us to book your road test. Q. What do I need to bring with me on the day of my Road Test?

A. You will need the Road Test Form filled out and signed by your parents or guardians.

Your permit (needs to be a legible permit), payment for the use of our car, and your confirmation number for your pre-paid License and Registry Road Test.
